Wales
Wales is one of the four countries that make up the United kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. It is situated in the South-east of Great Britain, to the East of England.
The capital city is Cardiff, located in the South of the country; it has a population of 321,000 people. The Parliament, known as the Welsh Assembly, is in Cardiff as well as the Millennium Stadium, which is home to the Welsh Rugby and very important pop music concerts. Other important cities are Swansea, Newport and Wrexham.
Wales has two official languages, English and Welsh. Wales has a temperate climate, like the rest of the UK, which means it never gets really cold in the winter nor really hot in the summer. Although Wales has quite rainy winters, temperature rarely drops below zero. The best period to visit Wales is during the late spring and summer months, when the weather is drier and warmer.
The Welsh flag is a red dragon on two equal horizontal stripes, white above and green below.
